SA Report is an independent South African news publication founded in 2026 by a small group of passionate journalists who believed the country deserved better — more honest, more thorough, and more inclusive news coverage.
We are not owned by a media conglomerate. We are not beholden to advertisers or political interests. We answer only to the truth and to the millions of South Africans whose stories deserve to be told.
What We Do
We cover South Africa — all of it. From national politics and economic policy to the community stories that rarely make front pages, SA Report is committed to journalism that reflects the full breadth and diversity of this country.
Our work includes:
- Investigative journalism — holding power to account, following the money, and surfacing what others would rather keep hidden
- General national news — accurate, timely reporting on the events shaping South Africa
- In-depth reporting — going beyond the headline to give readers the full picture
- Underreported stories — giving voice to communities, issues, and perspectives that mainstream media overlooks
Our Values
Independent. SA Report is free from corporate ownership and political interference. Our editorial decisions are made in our newsroom — nowhere else.
Free to read. We believe access to quality news should not depend on your ability to pay. SA Report is and will remain free for all South Africans.
Fact-driven. We verify before we publish. We correct when we are wrong. We do not sensationalise, and we do not speculate dressed up as reporting.
Inclusive. South Africa is one of the most diverse nations on earth. Our journalism reflects that — in the stories we choose, the voices we platform, and the communities we serve.
Bold. We ask hard questions. We pursue uncomfortable truths. We do not shy away from stories because they are difficult or inconvenient.
Our Commitment to You
SA Report subscribes to the Press Council of South Africa and is bound by the South African Press Code. If we get something wrong, we will correct it — publicly and promptly. If you have a complaint about our coverage, we take it seriously.
We are a young publication, but we are built on a foundation of journalistic integrity. Every story we publish is a promise to our readers: that we checked it, that we stand by it, and that it serves the public interest.
